ADAPTATION OF BUILDINGS AND OTHER FACILITIES TO ACCOMMODATE PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES   Policy Code:   9040

The board recognizes the need for its buildings and other facilities to be accessible to persons with disabilities. Any new facility or new part of a facility shall be designed and constructed in such a manner that it is readily accessible to and usable by persons with disabilities. School system buildings and other facilities currently in use shall be altered to be accessible to persons with disabilities in accordance with the school system transition plan. The superintendent is responsible for developing and implementing the transition plan in accordance with federal requirements. The board will seek the funding necessary to meet federal requirements in its budget preparation process.
